Amy Kleinhans
|

The beautiful Amy Kleinhans-Curd rose to fame when she was announced as Miss South Africa in 1992. She then went on to become a finalist in the Miss World pageant in the same year.
Interestingly, modeling was not something that ran in the family. In fact, Amy comes from a long generation of teachers. Her father was a principle and mother was an art teacher. So it was no surprise that Amy herself first pursued a similar path. She studied at UCT and completed studies in 1991 with a BA HDE and finishing up as a qualified teacher.
While her success in the beauty pageant arena took over in 1992 and 1993, in 1994 she returned to her studies again, but this time in the US. She studied in Philadelphia, USA, at the Institute of Human Development and completed a course in Intelligence Stimulus for children.
This course no doubt became even more valuable when Amy and husband Leighton Curd had their own children. The first to arrive was daughter Phillipa, followed two years later by Thomas.
